What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
This qualification covers the following areas:

Health and safety in the taxi and private hire work environment
Road safety when driving passengers in a taxi or private hire vehicle
Professional customer service in the taxi and private hire industry
Taxi and private hire vehicle maintenance and safety inspections
The regulatory framework of the taxi and private hire industry
Taxi and private hire services for passengers who require assistance
Routes and fares in the taxi and private hire vehicle industries
Transporting of parcels, luggage and other items in the taxi and private hire industries
Transporting of children and young persons by taxi or private hire vehicle

What Careers Can This Lead To?

Upon completion learners will have the knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in the passenger transport sector as a Taxi or Private Hire Driver, that is, providing a personal road transport service and ensuring the customer is transported safely and smoothly between origin and destination.

If a taxi or private hire driver starts out by driving a vehicle for a company, they may look to buy their own vehicle and start their own business. Drivers who work on their own, can look to expand their business by employing other drivers.

They could also move onto further training by taking up a Level 3 management qualification.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Level 2

This level will suit you if you are 19 or over and currently work as a taxi driver, chauffeur or driver in community transport or private hire and you want a recognised qualification and a chance to develop your skills further. You might plan to run your own driving business.
