These qualifications provide learners with the practical skills and knowledge to work on all aspects of the fish and shellfish production process.  Learners will be assessed in the workplace and on completion will have the skills and confidence to work effectively in the industry.   

 These qualifications are designed for trainees, new recruits and experienced workers in the fish and shellfish industry.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
You'll cover things like:
  • Assembling Fish/Shellfish products by hand
  • Grade fish/shellfish by hand.
  • Understand how to pack and ice fish/shellfish
You will learn on the job in the work environment. Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include observation and a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.Which Level is right for me?Level 2
Ideal for those with one or two years of experience of fish and shellfish processing, retail and service and support operations. You are competent at core production and/or manufacturing activities and are looking for ways of developing existing skills and knowledge.

  • Manufacturing production manager
  • Packaging operative/Manager

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment. You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards. These qualifications have been designed especially for those working within the fish and shellfish industry.

Level 2

This level is ideal for those with one or two years of experience who are competent at core production and/or manufacturing activities and are looking for ways of developing existing skills and knowledge to support production.

There are two qualifications available at this Level. These comprise mandatory and optional units including:

·         Process fish by hand

·         Understand how to gut and clean fish by hand

·         Contribute to the effectiveness of  food retail operations

·         Store goods and materials in food operations
