These qualifications are designed for trainees, new recruits and experienced workers in the fresh produce industry.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover areas like:

  • Controlling chopping operations
  • Carrying out quality audits
  • Grading fresh produce by hand.

You will learn on the job in the work environment.

Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include observation and a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.

Which Level is right for me?

Level 2
Ideal for those with one or two years of experience of fresh produce processing, retail and service and support operations. You are competent at core production and/or manufacturing activities and are looking for ways of developing existing skills and knowledge.

Level 3
Ideal for experienced workers in the fresh produce industry who are involved in the implementation and management of processes and operations.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

These qualifications can help you to progress in a wide range of roles in the fresh produce processing industry, including:

  • Fresh produce processing operative
  • Manufacturing production manager
  • Packaging operative/Manager
  • Quality control inspector
  • Retail assistant.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment. You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Level 2

Ideal for those with one or two years of experience of fresh produce processing, retail and service and support operations.

There are two qualifications available at this Level.
These comprise mandatory and optional units including:

·         Control of fresh produce washing operations

·         Grade fresh produce by hand

·         Maintain product quality in food operations

·         Principles of fresh produce handling and quality.
