These qualifications have been designed in collaboration with the British Parking Association (BPA) to raise the level of professionalism within the parking sector.

They provide the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a variety of management roles, including: parking manager, area manager, parking operations manager, contract manager, contract compliance and debt recovery manager.

They also support those providing strategic planning for parking provision.
These qualifications are ideal for those working in parking operations who wish to progress to team leader, supervisor or manager level.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

These qualifications cover all the essential skills and knowledge of parking operations, leadership and management you will need, including:

  • introduction to leadership
  • understanding the management role
  • developing and implementing policies and practices for the provision of parking services
  • debt recovery
  • developing and managing people in the workplace.

You will learn on the job in the work environment, as well as in the classroom.

Assessment methods include short-answer tests, assignments, a portfolio of evidence, and ILM assessments.

Which level is right for me?

Level 3
This has been developed for those in supervisory or first-line management roles, and deals with the management of parking operations.

Level 4
This is targeted at candidates involved more in management of parking operation activities, and deals with parking leadership and management.

Level 5
This is ideal for those involved in strategic planning and delivery of parking services, and deals with strategic parking leadership and management.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Candidates must be 18 or over.

Level 3

Level 3 is ideal for those in supervisory or first-line management roles, and deals with the management of parking operations.

There are two qualifications at Level 3:

  • Level 3 Award in the Management of Parking Operations
  • Level 3 Certificate in the Management of Parking Operations.

These comprise mandatory units, including:
  • Solving problems and making decisions
  • Leading a team effectively
  • Assessing and making decisions regarding challenges and representations relating to parking charges
  • Following organisational policy in responding to the fraudulent use of parking permits and tickets
  • Understand the legislative principles regulating parking and its enforcement
  • Administer parking and traffic challenges, representations and civil parking appeals
  • Administer parking and traffic debt recovery.
