Principles of Providing Security Services (1980)

This qualification enables you to learn, develop and practise the knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in the frontline Security Services sector.

It also promotes good working practice and develops important transferable skills, such as customer care and communication skills. This qualification forms part of the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Providing Security Services.

The existing 1980-02/93 Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Providing Security Services will close for all new registrations 31/12/2014 but is being replaced by 1980-03/93. This is due to existing licence-linked units being re-written.
This qualification is ideal for those working, or looking for employment, in the Security Services sector, as well as those completing an apprenticeship.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

This qualification will help you to develop and demonstrate the specialist, professional knowledge you have developed in areas such as:

  • CCTV Surveillance
  • Door Supervision
  • Terrorism Awareness
  • Event Security
  • Customer Care
  • Team Work.

There are a number of assessment methods, including multiple-choice questions, portfolio, assignments and e-volve online assessment.

You are working, or looking to work, in the Security Services sector and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised. You may wish to progress in your career or increase your knowledge of different areas of the security industry.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

Level 2 is ideal if you are working, or looking to work, in the Security Services sector and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised. You wish to progress in your career or increase your knowledge of the security industry.

  • Conflict management for the private Security Industry
  • Solving work-related problems
  • Building working relationships with customers
  • Working as a security officer
  • Working as a CCTV operator
  • Working as a door supervisor
  • Understanding security and loss prevention in a retail business
  • Developing personal skills for leadership
  • Terrorism awareness
  • Assist with the implementation of safety and security at a live event.
