This qualification will develop and accredit your frontline security skills and boost your opportunities for career progression. As well as covering essential work-related areas such as conflict management and close protection, you will gain transferable skills such as effective communications and customer service. The Providing Security Services qualification is part of the apprenticeship framework.
The qualifications have been developed for those working or looking to work in frontline security, perhaps as a door supervisor or security guard.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You will demonstrate a range of specialist and transferable knowledge and skills, such as:

  • Carrying out vehicle searches
  • Effective communication
  • Providing security at licensed venues
  • Monitoring areas using CCTV systems
  • Understanding current legislation.

You will learn in the classroom as well as on the job in the work environment.

Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.

Level 2
You are a security officer who wants to develop their skills and experience in the profession. You may also want to develop skills in other sectors of the security industry in which you work, such as static and patrol guarding, CCTV operations and door supervision.

These qualifications can help you to progress in frontline security role such as:

  • Door supervisor
  • Security guard
  • Patrolling guard
  • CCTV operator.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Level 2

This level is ideal if you are a security officer who wants to develop your skills and experience in the profession. You may also want to develop skills in other sectors of the security industry, such as static and patrol guarding, CCTV operations and door supervision.

There are four Level 2 qualifications to choose from:
  • Level 2 Certificate in Providing Security Services (Static and Patrol Guarding)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Providing Security Services (Door supervision)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Providing Security Services (CCTV operation)
  • Level 2 Certificate in Providing Security Services (Non-specialist pathway).

To earn a qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, some of which will be pathway-specific.
