These qualifications are designed primarily to support Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) within apprenticeships, although they may be used to develop these skills in other forms of work-based learning.

This qualification is part of the apprenticeship framework.

These qualifications are ideal for anyone wanting to improve their employment prospects, as well as for those completing an apprenticeship.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

The qualifications cover the essential knowledge needed for the world of work, including employment rights and responsibilities as well as personal learning and thinking skills.

You will build up a portfolio of evidence, probably drawn from practical and other work completed as part of your apprenticeship programme.

Which Level is right for me?

Level 2
You would like to brush up on your learning skills and find out more about the world of work, and you need to demonstrate these skills as part of your apprenticeship.

Level 3
You already have some experience or knowledge of the world of work, but want to develop this further. If you are on an apprenticeship programme you want to show that you can go beyond the minimum requirements.

These qualifications have been developed to support those undertaking apprenticeships across all sectors.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Learners will need access to a workplace and the opportunity to generate suitable evidence for the units they are completing. All assessment is by portfolio.

There are no eligibility requirements.

Level 2

This level will suit you if you would like to brush up on your learning skills and find out more about the world of work, and you need to demonstrate these skills as part of your apprenticeship.

There are four pathways available at this level.

  • Level 2 Subsidiary Award in Employment and Personal Learning at Work
  • Level 2 Award in Personal Learning at Work
  •  Level 2 Extended Award in Employment and Personal Learning at Work 
  • Level 2 Certificate in Employment and Personal Learning at Work 
     

Each of these offers a choice of more than 183 units appropriate to your apprenticeship.

  • Level 3 Award in Personal Learning at Work
  • Level 3 Extended Award in Employment and Personal Learning at Work
  • Level 3 Certificate in Employment and Personal Learning at Work.

Each offers a choice of more than 109 units appropriate to your apprenticeship.
