Fundamental to the skills agenda in Wales, Essential Skills qualifications enable learners to develop their knowledge and application of number, communication, digital literacy and employability. Essential Skills qualifications help learners to develop and demonstrate that they can apply these vital skills to a range of situations whilst at work, in learning and throughout life.

The current list of live Controlled Tasks for all subjects and levels can be found under the "Centre Documents" menu on the documents tab.

Delivering the controlled task under remote supervision.
In response to feedback from centres following the end of the Covid-19 adaptations, Qualifications Wales have agreed that the controlled task component of the Essential Skills qualifications can continue to be delivered and supervised remotely. The Asset Management Group have drawn up guidance for centres around managing this activity, which is available from the Documents tab on this page under "Additional Documents".
In order to offer assessments in this way, centres must first gain approval from City & Guilds that their proposed method meets the requirements for securing live assessment materials and preventing malpractice. To facilitate this, the Head of Centre or nominated individual must complete the Application to conduct remote supervision of ESW controlled tasks form.

Once the remotely supervised controlled task has been completed a further form must be completed to advise City & Guilds of the date of completion and to advise of any issues or incidents experienced while the task was being undertaken.  The Reporting of completion of remotely supervised controlled tasks form can be accessed here..
