This qualification can help you in your role as a cabin crew member of staff and it formally recognises your skills.  You'll demonstrate your ability to work safely in the air, deal with emergencies, use your own initiative and provide excellent customer service.
The certificate in Air/Senior Cabin Crew is for people who currently work in a cabin crew. There are options for both junior and senior crew members.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll be covering:

  • Passenger safety
  • Emergency/abnormal/dangerous response
  • Aircraft security
  • Leading cabin crews
  • Monitoring health, safety and hygiene.

The qualification will be assessed by practical performance and portfolio of evidence.

Which Level is right for me?

Level 2
You have some knowledge and basic skills in the cabin crew industry. You want to develop your skills and knowledge further.

Level 3
You have expert knowledge and basic skills in the cabin crew industry. You want to take on more responsibility at work and gain leadership skills.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

Air cabin crew can progress on to senior cabin crew or flight service manager.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Automatic fast track approval is available for centres already delivering the NVQ in Aviation Operations in the Air - Cabin Crew (4943).

Learners must be over the age of 18 to take the Level 2 Certificate in Air Cabin Crew and Level 3 Certificate in Senior Cabin Crew.

Level 2

This level will suit you if you have some knowledge and basic skills in the cabin crew industry. You want to develop your skills and knowledge further.

You'll need to complete three mandatory units:

  • Ensure the health and safety of air passengers
  • Respond to abnormal, dangerous or emergency situations
  • Contribute to the preservation of security on board aircraft.

You also complete 12 credits from a range of optional units, including:

  • Recognise airside hazards and minimise risks
  • Provide a trolley service on board an aircraft
  • Deliver reliable customer service.

Level 3

This level is ideal if you have expert knowledge and basic skills in the cabin crew industry. You want to take on more responsibility at work and gain leadership skills.

You'll need to complete three mandatory units:

  • Lead cabin crew in responding to abnormal, dangerous or emergency situations
  • Monitor and maintain health, safety and hygiene
  • Monitor and maintain security on board aircraft.

You also complete a minimum of 13 credits from a range of optional units, including:

  • Provide medical care and advice and administer first aid to passengers and crew
  • Ensure effective cabin crew performance
  • Monitor and maintain aircraft cabin systems, equipment and the environment
  • Implement organisational procedures for handling foreign cash/cash equivalents.
