The gambling industry has grown into a multi-million pound industry in recent years. Due to changes in legislation employees are required to improve their skills in different gambling areas. The NVQ Diplomas in Gambling Operations offer four pathways and so are suitable for anyone already working in the gambling industry in the following areas; bingo, betting, casinos and gaming machines.
Anyone aged over 18 working within the gambling industry.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates specialist knowledge and skills you have developed such as:

  • Customer service
  • Serving refreshments
  • Facilitating playing of gaming machines
  • Processing betting transactions
  • Bingo calling
  • Facilitating casino games such as American Roulette, Blackjack, Poker, Texas Holdem or Punto Banco.

 You will learn on the job in the work environment.

Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification

Which Level is right for me?

Level 2
You are working in gambling operations and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.

Level 3
You are working in gambling operations and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

These qualifications can help you to progress in a wide range of roles within the gambling industry (depending on route chosen) including:

  • croupier
  • gaming machine technician
  • bingo caller
  • book seller
  • betting office assistant
  • supervisor
  • pit boss
  • senior technician.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.
