The qualifications in travel and tourism cover many aspects to help you succeed in your career within the industry covering things like air fares, ticketing, tour guiding and the qualifications in travel and tourism.

The qualifications in travel and tourism are for anybody that wants to work or already work within the travel industry and want to develop their skills further.

Learners who achieve either the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Travel Services (4876-25) or Level 3 Certificate in Travel Services (4876-38) have met the criteria for the recognised industry standard previously titled ABTAC/ABTOC.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

While completing this course, you'll cover things like:

  • Worldwide travel and tourism destinations
  • Air fares and ticketing
  • Travel representative
  • Holiday representative
  • Tour guiding
  • Tour operator.

You will learn with your training provider - maybe through practical sessions, group discussions or assignments.

For each unit you will be assessed by a combination of externally set assignments and online multiple choice tests.

Which level is right for me?

Level 1
You're just starting out in the travel and tourism industry - you have a good basic understanding of the industry - enough to succeed in a job as a travel agent to tourist information centre worker or to move on to further study.

Level 2
You already have some knowledge or experience in the travel and tourism area.

Level 3
You've been working in the travel and tourism industry for some time - you have plenty of general experience, and might already supervise others or manage resources. You want to develop more specialised skills in a particular area.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Anyone can take these qualifications, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Level 2

Level 2 will suit you if you already have some knowledge of or experience in the travel and tourism industry. There is a choice between a number of awards, certificates and a longer diploma at Level 2.

Awards available at this level include:

  • Level 2 Award in Meet and Greet Services
  • Level 2 Award in Worldwide Travel and Tourism
  • Level 2 Award in Air Fares and Ticketing
  • Level 2 Award in UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • Level 2 Award in Travel and Tourism Support Services
  • Level 2 Award in Resort Representatives.

Certificates available at this level include:

  • Level 2 Certificate in UK Tourism
  • Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Working in Travel and Tourism
  • Level 2 Certificate in Retail Travel
  • Level 2 Certificate in Resort Representatives
  • Level 2 Certificate in Travel and Tourism Destinations.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Travel Services (technical certificate for Apprenticeship in Travel Services)
