What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed such as:

  • selling travel related products and services
  • implementing promotional activities
  • delivering customer service
  • researching destinations
  • developing itineraries.

How will I learn and be assessed?

You will learn on the job in the work environment, or in the classroom. Assessment will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.

Which level is right for me?

SCQF Level 5
You are new to the travel and tourism industry and want to gain the skills you need to do your job well or get the foundations to move on to the next level of qualification.

SCQF Level 6
You've got a SCQF level 5 qualification in travel and tourism services, or lots of on-the-job experience. You're interested in moving on to a more responsible leadership role.

How long do they take?

Guided learning hours:

Guided learning hours are the hours you spend learning with your training provider or on your own. There are between 203 and 306 guided learning hours for this qualification, depending on the level and pathway chosen.

The qualifications can take anything from one to two years to complete.

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres currently offering any of Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Travel Service (4927) can apply for fast track approval to offer the relevant pathway of this qualification as follows:

  • Level 2 Diploma Travel Services - Leisure and Business (4927-21 ) can apply for approval to offer City & Guilds SVQ2 in Travel Services (Leisure and Business Travel Services) at SCQF level 5 (4931-51)
  • Level 3 Diploma Travel Services - Leisure and Business (4927-31 ) can apply for approval to offer City & Guilds SVQ 3 in Travel Services (Leisure and Business Travel Services) at SCQF level 6 (4931-61)

  • There are no eligibility requirements.

    These qualifications replace the 4931-21 and 4931-31 of the same title.
