These single unit short course qualifications have been developed in conjunction with industry for those involved in working in excavations across a range of sectors including utilities.

They are also suitable as a refresher or CPD training.

There are four qualifications covering mechanical, sheet piling, board and skeleton support systems and medium depth excavations.
They are for anyone who works or is involved in the installation of excavation support.

This qualification will be suitable for many industries including construction and utilities.
Available to deliver in the following:

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
Depending on which qualification you take, you'll cover things like:
  • Assess changing conditions
  • Dewatering
  • Install, dismantle and remove support systems
  • Safe working practices for the installation of excavation support systems
The qualifications are delivered through a combination of practical and theoretical training at a City & Guilds centre.

Each qualification is assessed through a practical observation and written assessment.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment and assessment facilities that meet the specification in the handbook.

The qualification is assessed by a City & Guilds set and quality assured assignment which is centre marked.

Any learners aged 18 and over are eligible to undertake the assessments.

Level 2

This Level 2 will help you work safely in excavations by using support systems.

You will learn how to install dismantle and remove support systems safely.
