These NVQs are for those working in Industrial, Commercial and Liquid Petroleum Gas Installation and Maintenance.
Pathways for Liquid Petroleum Gas are no longer available for registration.
The Industrial & Commercial Pathways have been extended for registration as they form part of the extended Gas Modern Apprenticeship in Scotland.
Options are available for experienced gas engineers or those just starting out in their careers.

    General Information

    What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

    You can choose the pathway that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed and units could include:
    • Install gas systems and components
    • Service and maintain gas systems and components
    • Maintain a safe working environment for all gas related work
    • Apply core gas safety measures to work activities
    • Commission gas systems and components

    You will learn on the job in the work environment, or in the classroom with realistic situations and appliances.

    You will be assessed in a number of ways – including knowledge questions, Gas Safety RWE practical, a portfolio of evidence and observation.

    Is this level right for me?

    Level 2

    You are working or looking to work in Industrial and Commercial gas installation and maintenance and have some relevant knowledge and skills. You may also be undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship

    Level 3

    You are an apprentice, new to the industry, or experienced and looking to up skill.

    Taking these qualifications can lead to registration on the Gas Safe Register which will enable you to work as a gas engineer in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey.

    What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

    To deliver these qualifications you will need experienced qualified assessors and Internal Verifiers and suitable facilities.

    To deliver these qualifications you will need to obtain the national Occupational Standards from Energy & Utility Skills or download from the National Occupational Standards Database

    Level 2

    Level 2 will suit you if you already work in the Industrial and Commercial or LPG gas sector or plan to begin working on gas systems in a variety of situations. You need a qualification to prove that you have the skills and experience to install, service and maintain these systems.
