Study TechBac: the details

TechBac offers a unique mix of two elements: practical learning in a vocational subject with developing the workplace skills that employers demand.

There are two components to TechBac:

Digital tools to help you learn

Skills Zone

Skills Zone

Skills Zone is a brand-new user-friendly learning hub for Workplace Skills, available on tablets, PCs and mobiles, so you can practice and develop your skills anytime, anywhere.

Skills Zone includes an online CV Builder, so you can create a CV and showcase your achievements to potential employers.

Susanna Wright, tutor at South and City College Birmingham says:

“Students have really enjoyed getting involved with the Skills Zone, tracking their progress; they’ve really relished using placements to reinforce their learning in the classroom. It’s been useful having the Skills Zone as an extra resource, the students take ownership of their own progression through Skills Zone, also it helps that they’re building up their CV information ready for when they are making UCAS applications in the second year.”

OPen Badges

Open Badges

Open Badges are web-based ‘trophies’ of your skills and achievements, which you can showcase through your online CV to potential employers.

Your tutor will award them to you once you’ve shown you’ve learnt each of the key employability skills within Workplace Skills.

You can also manage your badges and share them through networking platforms, such as LinkedIn.
