Current issue: Apprenticeship Special
Now is the critical time for everyone involved in apprenticeships, which is why we have made this issue of Agenda an apprenticeship special. The implementation plan for the apprenticeship reforms is well underway and City & Guilds is at the heart of the changes. We are currently working with the government, trailblazer groups and employers to design products and services that ensure the quality
Whilst we fully support the new reforms and the enablement of employers to wield their ‘purse power’ to get the skilled workforce they need, we have concerns around application and adoption of these reforms, especially amongst SMEs who may be discouraged from taking on an apprentice under new, more complex funding arrangements.
In this issue, we look at the key reforms and their impact on funding, independent end assessment, as well as the role of trailblazers. We also explore the issue of clarity amongst employers and what can be done to overcome the information gap to secure the long-term adoption and quality of apprenticeships.
