Consultancy and events

City & Guilds Advance is a consultancy and training service designed to support colleges and training providers to develop strategic direction, as well as manage and implement change.

To help you achieve excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, we work with you to understand your organisational objectives and requirements and provide the right expert interventions to achieve your goals. These could include Curriculum Effectiveness Modelling, Labour Market Analysis or Quality Assurance Consultancy.

We also host a wide range of one-day CPD events across the UK to help raise standards in both colleges and training providers. Our rolling programme of events delivers critical up-to-date knowledge for tutors and managers that focuses on improving teaching, assessment practice and quality assurance. In addition, we are delighted to add a range of new events, including ‘Observation of teaching and learning’, ‘Embedding enterprise from curriculum to practice’ and ‘Making work experience matter’.

All of our CPD events can be provided by request either in-house or on site.

Strategic employer engagement in colleges

City & Guilds and MyKindaCrowd are delighted to be joining together to deliver an exciting and innovative new concept for a select number of Further Education colleges. By developing a dedicated employer space and set of services, we will provide high quality employer engagement plans and activity embedded within the curriculum to ensure your organisation bridges the gap for learners between education and employment in a more strategic way. 

This new service is a holistic approach which will provide specially recruited staff and consultancy support. We will work with your curriculum team to plan and organise employer related activities by sourcing large employers in a space of your choice to deliver challenges, projects and interactions. We will align this with your chosen industry sectors based on what will offer the most significant value to your learners’ programmes of study; providing opportunities to build your own connections with key local employers and well-known brands that we source.

This will help you deliver high quality work placements, apprenticeships and job outcomes to more of your learners. This service will be more widely available from September 2015.

Learning Assistant developments

We are pleased to announce the following developments to Learning Assistant as part of its continuous improvements: 

  • Multi-course support and stability upgrades for applications running on iOS 7 and iOS 8 devices

Over the coming months we will also be releasing the following developments:

  • A new multi-course framework, enabling learners to enrol on up to eight separate courses
  • Enhanced features for Android tablets and phones, including contact diary, messaging and multi-course support
