Why work in digital?

The UK technology sector is an exciting and fast paced place to work with lots of opportunities for people with the right skills. Some key stats:

  • Tech jobs are highly paid, with the average salary coming in at £50,000 – 36 percent higher than the national average.
  • In 2015 over 1.56m people were working in the UK tech sector
  • The workforce is expected to grow by more than 10 percent over the next three years - three times faster than the rest of the UK job market.

How can City & Guilds help me get into digital?

City & Guilds work with employers such as Google, Microsoft and Samsung to develop apprenticeships, qualifications and exciting new courses such as the TechBac to ensure that young people come out with the skills that are really needed to succeed in the industry.

TechBac in digital

The TechBac is a brand new course for 14 – 19 year olds available in a range of subjects including digital.

The TechBac in Digital has been created to help young people develop an understanding of today’s digital world. Learners will be able to select specialist units to explore everything from software development to social networking.

*Currently only available at Newham College in East London but will be available nationally from September 2016 onwards.
