Want to teleport into a TechBac?

We know how busy everyone is just getting their day jobs done these days. We’ve heard our customers say that it’s almost impossible to make time to explore new things outside of their college gates . . . . Despite really wanting to know what’s going on out there.

That’s why we’ve decided to run a Periscope live video stream this Friday from one of our TechBac pioneer colleges at South and City College Birmingham. It will give everyone the chance to get the inside scoop on this new 14 – 19 curriculum without even leaving their desks.

During the live stream you’ll get the chance to see learners from the Construction TechBac in action at a ‘surveying school’, meet college principal Mike Hopkins, Head of Faculty Bob Howlett, a local employer who gives work experience to the TechBac learners and City & Guilds very own Director of Policy and Research, Patrick Craven.

South and City College Birmingham are true pioneers of the TechBac having been one of the very first colleges in the country to run a TechBac in FY14/15 they have added a further two TechBac subjects to their curriculum in FY15/16. Find out how they’ve found the first year and why they’ve decided to run more of the courses this year.

For those of you who don’t know what Periscope is (it’s pretty new on the market) its pretty much as close as you can get to a teleport device in 2015. It’s a live video stream and is totally interactive, which means you can ask any questions you want to throughout the live stream and have them answered by anyone of the people you virtually meet.

Best of all its totally free of charge. You just need to download the Periscope app onto your device (iPhone, android phone, iPad, tablet) in advance of the event and then log in using your Twitter account details.

We will be running the Periscope from 12.00pm – 12.15pm on Friday 16 October 2015. Log in to ask your burning questions @cityandguilds If you miss the live stream you can catch it again on Twitter or Periscope for 24 hours after broadcast or on City & Guilds You Tube channel.

To create your own Periscope account go to www.periscope.tv
