This qualification was developed to address the needs of practitioners providing intense support to families, for example in family intervention work. The new award focuses on the skills and knowledge required to provide sustained, intensive, whole family support in a multi-agency setting.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You will develop the specialist knowledge and skills needed for:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with parents
  • Understanding and using various intervention methods
  • Working with families with complex and multiple needs to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour and increase positive behaviour.

You will learn on the job in the work environment and will complete a portfolio of evidence for assessment.

Level 4

The level 4 is designed for senior practice and supervisory or management roles within a range of settings. At this level the worker has management or supervisory responsibility for other staff or a high level of independence in developing responses to the services users' needs.

This Award provides opportunities for specialist learning for individuals working in family intervention projects or in social care settings using the family intervention model.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Level 4

Level 4 is ideal if you are in a senior practice and supervisory or management role within a range of settings. You have management or supervisory responsibility for other staff or a high level of independence in developing responses to the service users' needs.

This qualification comprises three mandatory units:
  • Build and maintain relationships in work with parents
  • Understand and use persistent and proactive intervention methods when working with families with complex and multiple needs
  • Work with families with complex and multiple needs to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour and increase positive behaviour.
