This suite of Hair and Beauty qualifications covers a range of knowledge and skills at various levels to support career progression within the industry.

 

The Certificate and Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector at SCQF Level 4 and 5 and Award in Contact Dermatitis Prevention at SCQF Level 5 have no formal entry requirements or age restrictions for learners.

The Diploma in Management and Practice and Advanced Techniques in the Hair and Beauty Sector at SCFQ Level 7 (Hair) is designed for experienced hair and beauty professionals and is suitable for learners aged 18+ only.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
To deliver these qualifications, centres/colleges will need to provide their learners with a suitable learning environment and the resources they need to complete the practical and theoretical aspects of the qualification.

SCQF 4

Our Certificate and Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector at SCQF Level 4 and 5 are designed to build on your interest and passion for the hair and beauty industry, covering a wide range of skills from styling, plaiting and twisting to make-up or nail art.

These qualifications are designed for people who want to prepare for further learning or training in the hair and beauty sector.


What Careers Can This Lead To?
The Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector qualifications provide the skills needed to become a salon assistant.

Following completion of these qualifications, you can progress onto SVQ or VRQ Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy at SCQF Level 5.

SCQF 5

Our Award in Contact Dermatitis Prevention at SCQF Level 5 is designed for learners that spend time with wet hands or use chemicals - perhaps shampooing hair, washing and preparing food, cleaning or working in an engineering job, to learn how to protect yourself from contact dermatitis.
 
The qualification is delivered in a classroom setting and learners are assessed by an externally-set 45 minute multiple choice exam.

Centres don't need any special resources to deliver this qualification - just a suitable trainer and training venue. Lesson plans, activity sheets and other teaching and learning resources can be accessed online via our SmartScreen service.
