The City & Guilds Level 3 Unified Communications Technician apprenticeship offer provides all the materials and digital solutions you need to sustain flexible delivery models that are cost effective, time efficient and meet the learning styles of your apprentices, ensuring they are motivated to be successful, productive in their role and are fully prepared for end-point assessment.

In order to offer a genuine end-to-end solution we will also provide high quality, rigorous end-point assessment, at a convenient time and place for your apprentice.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Unified Communications Technician apprenticeship is designed for learners who will be placed in the following roles:
• Unified Communications Technician
• Telecommunication Technician
• Telecommunications Operative

They use a range of tools and equipment to install basic communication hardware and software. They also deal with routine service requests including fault rectification across a range of technologies, applying security principals in line with legal and organisational needs.


On-programme for this apprenticeship is usually a period of learning, development and continuous assessment, managed by the employer. In most cases, there’s also support from a training provider. There are no mandatory on-programme qualifications for this standard. The knowledge, skills and behaviour that will be developed during the on-programme learning will include:

The employer and provider are required to sign-off the apprentice as ready to move on to end-point assessment.

End-point assessment

The end-point assessment must demonstrate that the apprentice can perform in the occupation in a fully competent, holistic and productive way.  The end-point assessment will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction, as required by the standard. The assessment decisions and assessor are independent of, and separate from, the training provided by the provider and employer.

The end-point assessment is made up of the following assessment methods:
• Employee Reference
• Showcase Portfolio
• Synoptic Project
• Interview

On successful completion, the end-point assessment organisation will apply to the ESFA for the apprenticeship certification. The certificate will then be sent to the apprentice’s employer.
