This qualification helps you build on your knowledge as an essential skills practitioner, and develop your skills based on current teaching best practice.
This qualification is ideal for those who are delivering numeracy, literacy, ESOL and digital literacy at level 1 or below and need a recognised qualification to work as an essential skills practitioner. You could be working in a range of places from colleges and the workplace to the community and secure establishments.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed in teaching:
  • ESOL
  • Numeracy
  • Literacy
  • Digital literacy.

You will learn in the classroom and on the job in the work environment. Assessment includes a portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations.

Level 3
You are working in a work-based, adult and community learning or college setting delivery numeracy, literacy, ESOL and digital literacy qualifications at Level 1 or below.
 
The qualification takes one to two years to complete.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

This qualification could lead to a range of teaching and training posts in a range of settings.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.
You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

There are no eligibility requirements, but the course is most suited to those who are already employed in post-compulsory education or basic skills delivery, and who have already achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Learning Support.

 

Level 3

The Level 3 Certificate in Essential Skills Practitioners will suit you if you are working in a work-based, adult and community learning or college setting, delivery numeracy, literacy, ESOL and digital literacy qualifications at Level 1 or below.

This qualification comprises:

  • Assessment of essential skills (Numeracy/Literacy/ESOL/Digital Literacy)
  • Planning essential skills learning (Numeracy/Literacy/ESOL/Digital Literacy)
  • Delivering essential skills learning (Numeracy/Literacy/ESOL/Digital Literacy).
