Licence to Practice (1897)

These Licence to Practice qualifications allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for a job in the Security industry in the following roles:
  • Door Supervisor or Security Officer.
  • CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry and Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment within the Private Security Industry.
  • Close Protection Operative
These Licence to Practice qualifications cover the knowledge and understanding required for each role above and include a combination of online tests and practical assessments. 

Centres will ask potential learners to demonstrate sufficient language skills before putting learners forward for assessment. A full list of acceptable language qualifications can be found in the handbook.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

In order to offer this qualification, organisations which are not already City & Guilds centres must apply for centre and qualification approval. Existing City & Guilds centres will only need to apply for qualification approval – please refer to “Criteria for delivery” under the “Documents” tab.

  • Credits: 3 Credits are a measure of the size of the qualification
  • Guided Learning Hours: 18 - 18 This is the average contact time a centre would typically commit
