The Gelder Group

The Gelder Group is a multi-award winning construction company with a strong commitment to training.

They offer their clients a wealth of building experience in education, health, retail, insurance, leisure, residential & commercial building projects.

Over the last 10 years Gelder have developed Dewpoint training, which is a leading, independent provider of professional training, auditing and consultancy services, accreditation and membership to the damage management and insurance industries.

They spoke to us about their challenges and how recognition of their training from City & Guilds delivers tangible business results for their clients.

The challenge

Gelder first engaged with City & Guilds in 2012, and began to look at its training programmes, specifically in the insurance sector.

Dewpoint, Gelder’s damage management programme, enables individuals to become experts in the restoration of damaged properties, covering everything from mould, smoke, fire and flood damage.  They wanted to grow awareness of the programme and felt that external recognition would help with added credibility with the market.

The solution

Gelder knew that the programme was of a high standard but wanted additional external recognition of this, to use as a selling point for new business.

City & Guilds assessed the programme and have provided recognition every year since then, ensuring that the training is benchmarked against the highest industry standards.

The result

As a City & Guilds recognised programme, Dewpoint are able to develop and deliver courses specific to damage management, an accomplishment they are proud of, winning several awards and receiving national recognition throughout the UK.

Since 2012 Gelder have put hundreds of individuals through the course, and get consistently good feedback from learners and clients.

In terms of client feedback and business results, Gelder find that the expertise delivered through trained employees has a marked reduction in “claim time”.  This results in large cost efficiencies for them and their clients.

Over the last few years Dewpoint is becoming increasingly recognised as the industry standard for this type of programme.

"Having the City & Guilds name behind our programme is a massive influence for us. It really helps to make our training stand out from the competition, as City & Guilds is such a trusted name in the industry.

"From positive learner feedback to happy clients, we are proud to have this City & Guilds recognised course as part of our training portfolio. The re-bookings we get alone tell us that we are doing the right thing."
