  • Handbooks – We have handbooks available for each qualification and they are a valuable pre-delivery tool. Inside, you will find information on:  Qualification structures, assessment and moderation, rules of combination and guided learning hours, tutor requirements, learner entry requirements, and progression pathways. Handbooks can be found with each individual qualification on the Qualifications section of our website>

 

2. Preparation and on-boarding support

Preparing you to deliver Technical Qualifications:

  • 1-to-1 on-boarding support – Our technical subject advisors will provide bespoke support to your centre.
  • Tutor delivery and CPD events – We have a range of events scheduled to help prepare your staff for delivery of our Technical Qualifications. View our upcoming events>
  • A quality approval and support visit – As part of the approvals process, you’ll receive a centre visit from an external quality assurer (EQA) to give you additional transition support

      Moderation Portal Centre Guide

      This new guide supports centres using the Moderation Portal, our online platform used in the delivery of Technical Qualifications. The Moderation Portal allows centres to upload marks and evidence for the components of the Technical Qualifications. 

      Employer Involvement Centre Guidance

      This helpful guide breaks down what is required from centres in terms of Employer Involvement including what is ‘meaningful’ employer involvement? What does good practice look like? What kind of evidence is required?

      Marking and Moderation Guide

      All you need to know about the City & Guilds marking and moderation process for Technical Qualifications.

      Teaching Learning and Assessment Guide

      This handy guide breaks down the differences between QCF qualifications and the new Technical Qualifications. It also provides useful information on supporting excellent teaching, learning and assessment.


      This video supports centres using the Moderation Portal, our online platform used in the delivery of Technical Qualifications. The Moderation Portal allows centres to upload marks and evidence for the components of the Technical Qualifications. Here we demonstrate how to log into the new portal, create marker accounts, upload marks & evidence and where to locate the contact diary.

      The following support aids are available at KS5 Level 3 for delivery from September 2016. Additional sectors and resources will be added for KS5 Level 2 to begin teaching in September 2017.

      Enhanced SmartScreen 

      Sample Assessments

      Comprehensive online tutor packages that provide detailed suggested schemes of work and extensive handouts, PowerPoints, worksheets, and sample revision materials.

      Designed to save tutors’ time and offer ideas and guidance on how the new qualifications might be delivered

      Enhanced SmartScreen packages contain all of the traditional tutor resources but also offer learner-facing digital materials…such as videos to demonstrate important skills and quizzes to consolidate learning.

      These can be used as either a front of class teaching aid or set for learners to work independently
