Digital Knowledge Qualifications (9628)

These qualifications are designed to support learners to develop a full range of underpinning knowledge that can be used in a variety of businesses and industries that demonstrate confidence and transferability in a Digital Technology Environment.

They have been developed in collaboration with employers, sector experts and training providers using the relevant apprenticeship standard as the baseline. The standards have been created by employer  groups for the specific areas. The qualifications embody the required learning that allow for the opportunity to successfully gain the relevant knowledge for their chosen career path in a Digital Technology environment.
The qualifications can be taken either as standalone qualifications, or as part of the mandatory on-programme learning for the following Digital Industries apprenticeship standards (City & Guilds 9648):

Software Developer version 1.0 AP04 (9648-71/76)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Software Development Methodologies (9628-01)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Software Language (9628-02)

Network Engineer version 1.1 AP03 (9648-72/77)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Network Principles (9628-03)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Network Systems and Architecture (9628-04)

Infrastructure Technician version 1.0 AP02 (9648-73/75)

On achieving the relevant qualification(s), the learner will have gained underpinning knowledge appropriate to one of the above Apprenticeship Standards.

The qualifications can also be used to enhance on-programme learning for the following newly published 2021 Digital Industries apprenticeship standards where a mandatory qualification isn’t required:
