Up-to-date IT skills are important for almost any job in today's market. These qualifications are based on City & Guilds leading e-Quals 07 qualifications, designed to help you take your IT skills to the next level, whether you're an occasional computer user or an IT professional.
These qualifications are for anyone who uses IT. The IT User qualifications can help your learners increase skills and confidence in a range of areas including word-processing, animation and web design.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

Depending on the level you take you will cover things like:

  • word processing
  • web design
  • word-processing
  • using spreadsheets
  • databases
  • desktop publishing
  • using the internet.

Learners may also select subjects from the IT Single Subjects qualification as part of this programme.

To get a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) you learn with your training provider - maybe through practical sessions, group discussions or assignments.
VRQs are usually assessed by your training provider using assignments, practical tasks, exams or online tests.

Which level is right for me?

Level 1
You have some basic IT skills and would like to develop and build confidence in working with and using IT.

Level 2
You are an IT User and would like to widen your knowledge and develop your IT skills.

Level 3
You have plenty of IT skills. You may be looking to learn the skills you need to perform more complex tasks using IT tools.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

The qualifications offer a number of career progression opportunities and can give you skills that will help in any role where you need to work with computers.

The suite of qualifications also offer easy progression to other qualifications. Learners completing a Level 2 Diploma can often proceed to a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in the same area.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) you'll need to provide your learners with a suitable learning environment and the resources they need to complete the practical and theoretical aspects of the qualification. You will need qualified internal assessors.

For these qualifications, you'll assess learners using practical assignments or demonstrations, multiple-choice exams or e-assessment methods.

You can get approval for 7267 qualifications if you currently offer the equivalent qualifications:

  • 7235
  • 7261
  • 7262.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Level 2

Is this level right for me?
You are an IT User and would like to widen your knowledge and develop your IT skills.

To achieve full certification for the IVQ Advanced Diploma for IT Users, learners must complete three units, comprising one core and two optional units.

Core:

  • Either IT Principles or Word Processing Techniques

Example of optional units:

  • Using word processing software to adapt and merge documents
  • Designing and creating spreadsheets
  • Designing and creating databases
  • Using the Internet for finding, selecting and sending information
  • Designing and creating presentations
  • Designing and creating multi-page documents using desktop publishing software or choose from a number of ICT Single Subjects.
  • 8975-23 Word processing techniques
  • 8970-23 Spreadsheet processing techniques
  • 8966-03 Practical data processing
  • 8983-12 Desktop publishing
  • 8989-02 Computerised accounts
  • 8982-12 Using E-mail and the Internet
  • 8974-23 Visual presentations.
