What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

This introduction to the facilities industry covers all the basic essentials, such as:

  • Recycling
  • Waste disposal
  • Health and safety
  • Cleaning.

You will learn in the classroom and suitable workplace-based environments.

Assessment will be through assignments and multiple-choice and short-answer examinations.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres currently offering the City & Guilds Level 2 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Cleaning Principles (7695) or City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Cleaning and Support Services Skills (7648) can gain fast-track approval to offer these qualifications.

Level 1

Is this level right for me?

You have little or no experience of working within the facilities industry. You are looking for your first job in this area or are looking for an introduction to your new workplace and role.

This comprises three mandatory units:

  • Health, safety and security in the facilities industry
  • Workplace hygiene in the facilities industry
  • Introduction to working in the facilities industry.

This comprises one mandatory unit:

  • Introduction to waste and recycling.

This comprises three mandatory units:

  • Health, safety and security in the facilities industry
  • Workplace hygiene in the facilities industry
  • Introduction to working in the facilities industry

Plus one optional unit from the following:

  • Prepare and clean washrooms
  • Introduction to waste and recycling
  • Using resources in a sustainable way within the facilities industry.

Learners can also complete individual units rather than a full qualification. Note that there are potentially nine more optional units that will follow the same structure within the Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to the Facilities Industry
