ASEAN is undergoing rapid development, with a strong demand for both Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reforms and a skilled labour force to meet both local and international economic opportunities.

Currently, there are skills shortages in Engineering, Construction, Hospitality and Catering, Oil and Gas and Leadership and Management, as well as a lack of qualified teachers across ASEAN.

To help resolve these skills gaps, City & Guilds is working with both local governments in ASEAN to develop relevant skills training programmes; and employers to define critical skill-sets they want to see in their recruitment process.

We are also advising governments in reforming their TVET framework to meet the demands of a rapidly globalised economy. 

The region is one of the most dynamic economic growth regions and consists of a diverse range of countries, ranging from developed nations like Singapore to fast growing economies like Indonesia and Vietnam.

Launching a global benchmark

The Global Hospitality Certification, by City & Guilds, is a brand new global skills framework for the hospitality industry. Created in partnership with Worldchefs and employers, it is the first and only professional skills framework in the world. It has been co-designed with industry professionals to recognise the skills and experience of those working in hospitality.

The Certification sets a global benchmark for job roles across:
