These qualifications provide the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing.

Centres approved to deliver 6217 and 6218 will be automatically approved to deliver 6219.

Assessment materials are available to download under the Assessment Materials section of the relevant Level (see grey tab above). The phases cover the following trade areas:

Phase 1: Generic Units, Bricklaying, Joinery
Phase 2: Wall & Floor Tiling, Construction, Operations, Painting & Decorating
Phase 3: Carpentry
Phase 4: Plastering, Plumbing, Electrical
These qualifications are suitable for 14-19 year olds, or for individuals of any age wanting an introduction to the variety of construction trades, to gain skills in those areas and perhaps to decide which trade is the right one to pursue a career in. No previous knowledge or experience is required.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll learn in the classroom and in the workshop, using suitable tools and materials.

Each unit is assessed via practical assignments, and there is an optional e-assessment available.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified staff who have previous experience in the construction industry.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

These qualifications are suitable for learners with no previous experience or knowledge of the construction craft skills. They are part of foundation learning and suitable for 14-19 years and up.
