What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

To earn a qualification, you choose a specialism from: Agriculture, Arboriculture/Forestry, Ground Care, Fixed Plant and Storage and Construction Plant Maintenance.

These qualifications are assessed in the workplace.  Units will be assessed by the gathering of work-based evidence into a portfolio. The authenticity, sufficiency and validity of the evidence will be judged by the assessor.

Learners taking the qualifications as part of an apprenticeship must also undertake independent assessment. At Level 2, this is a multiple choice paper; at Level 3, there are written papers and an assignment.

Which level is right for me?

Level 2
You may be new to land-based engineering operations or have some knowledge and basic skills. You want to develop your skills, perhaps to start work as an engineering maintenance technician, a vehicle breakdown engineer or prepare for further training.

Level 3
You may have some experience in land-based engineering operations or have gained your Level 2 qualification. You want to develop the skills to be a more senior worker/ manager or to prepare for higher-level training.
