Luan Windley – West Nottinghamshire College

gemma seal photoIn my role as a support staff at The Adventure Service based in Mansfield, I provide compassionate care and support for the day groups at our day centre for people with additional support needs to achieve potential though adventure. I help to deliver character building sessions and activities for adults with learning disabilities in the outdoors.

My L2 Diploma in Care with City & Guilds has really invoked a greater insight to the world or social care for me. I have learned not only better skills and knowledge but also the ability to recognise where I need to improve. The Assessors at West Nottinghamshire College have been saints. They truly go above and beyond to ensure that I achieved the best I possibly could. The great variety of tests, quizzes and learning workshops were brilliant for stretching my learning capability and challenged me to think in new perspectives. I am impressed by the competency and thought put into the course. All the staff that helped me through my EPA were super friendly and really ensured a relaxed environment for my assessments.

Thanks to my Adult Care EPA I have the confidence to develop my career as a social worker and push myself to go further. I achieved a Distinction in my end point assessment with City & Guilds in October 2020.

I also won the apprentice of the year Award at the Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 Business Awards.
