Sian Tibble – apprenticeship success
Sian recently completed an advanced apprenticeship in dental nursing with her employer John G Plummer & Associates.
During my apprenticeship I worked alongside a qualified nurse and dentist and attended theory lectures once a week. I had to complete a portfolio of evidence and had assessments usually fortnightly. After passing 4 Evolve exams, I achieved the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing and I was able to
register with the General Dental Council.
Following this I moved on to my EPA where I had to complete a written project and a professional discussion. At the start of the project, I felt quite apprehensive as it looked like a challenging task. However, once I got started it began to make more sense. I was able to use my previous course handouts and notes and it related to my daily working practice.
I am very proud to have achieved a Double Distinction and now work Full time at John G Plummer & Associates as a qualified nurse running my own surgery. I look forward to exploring further qualifications and responsibilities in the future. Recently I have used my City & Guilds qualification to benefit others on a Dentaid trip to Uganda this year. This was a fantastic, fun and rewarding experience and I have already planned to attend again next year.
