Expanding our apprenticeship assessment portfolio with new standards across key sectors
Grow your apprenticeship provision across key sectors with City & Guilds
28 May 2026
We are expanding our apprenticeship assessment portfolio to support more training providers delivering across multiple standards and sectors.
We will be increasing the number of apprenticeship standards we assess from 60 to more than 70 giving you broader coverage and greater flexibility when choosing an apprenticeship assessment partner.
As the UK’s leading apprenticeship awarding organisation, our approach remains focused on what matters most: high-quality, employer-aligned assessment that supports strong apprentice outcomes.
We continue to design and deliver apprenticeship assessments that reflect occupational competence, ensuring apprentices are fully prepared for the workplace.
‘Expanding our offer allows us to support more standards and more learners while maintaining the rigorous, employer-led approach that underpins everything we do.’

Simplifying delivery and supporting providers through apprenticeship reform
As apprenticeship reforms continue to develop, we’re focused on providing stability and confidence so you can plan, deliver and grow your apprenticeship programmes with the right assessment partner in place.
We’re seeing an increase in demand from providers and employers for trusted assessment partners who can deliver consistency, quality and scale across multiple apprenticeship standards.
By expanding our portfolio, we’re making it easier to work with a single, trusted organisation across more of your provision – helping simplify delivery and reduce administrative burden.
Mandy Smith, Executive Director of City & Guilds Customer Solutions, explains:
‘We know how critical high-quality assessment is to the success and credibility of apprenticeships. Expanding our apprenticeship offer allows us to support more standards and more learners while maintaining the rigorous, employer-led approach that underpins everything we do.’
She added: ‘As we await the new apprenticeship rules and the release of assessment plans, our focus remains on ensuring stability, quality, and readiness so that our customers can move forward with confidence.’
