Digital Functional Skills Qualifications
City & Guilds’ new Digital Functional Skills Qualifications (DFSQs) will be available for first teaching in August 2023.
Available at Entry Level 3 and Level 1, these qualifications will replace the existing Functional Skills ICT qualifications and will be the new funded offer in the digital space at Level 1 and below, alongside Essential Digital Skills qualifications.
Digital FS qualifications are designed to:
- Provide reliable evidence of a learner’s achievements against content that is relevant to the workplace and real life
- Provide assessment of a learner’s knowledge and skills as well as their ability to apply these in different contexts
- Provide a foundation for progression into employment or further education and develop skills for everyday life
Our qualifications are currently undergoing technical evaluation by Ofqual who publish a progress table of their decisions here.
What is covered in DFSQs?
Digital Functional Skills qualifications are based on subject content devised by the Department for Education and can be found here.
How will DFSQs be assessed?
Both Entry Level 3 and Level 1 will be assessed by an externally set marked assessment which will be delivered on-screen through our e-assessment platform, Evolve. As with Functional Skills English and Maths, the assessments will be grades as either a pass or fail.
Who are DFSQs aimed at?
DFSQs are available for learners aged 16-18 as part of their study programmes and are funded for adults under the Adult Education Budget (AEB).
We will be sharing a first look at our new Digital Functional Skills Qualification soon. Make sure you are signed up for email updates for Functional Skills.
