Victoria Greenhalgh – apprenticeship success

victoria greenhalgh photoVictoria Greenhalgh provides care and support for adults with complex needs, learning and physical disabilities as well as people living with Dementia, MS and elderly customers.

As a Support Worker my role is to help each person I work with to live a full and valued life through a range of activities and opportunities in a safe and rewarding environment.

The City & Guilds Care Certificate and Diploma have enabled me to provide a much better quality of care and support for customers, their carers and family members, colleagues and other professionals I work with. Throughout my studies I have had access to a City & Guilds assessor at Total People who gave me the confidence in my ability to complete all the elements in gaining my qualifications, as well as completing the online test and professional discussion for the end-point assessment.

There was a lot to learn with my studies involving a combination of written work, observations, reflective practice, reading journals, attending workshops and of course learning from more experienced colleagues. However, the EPA was a great opportunity to reflect on what I am good at and areas where I can improve to provide an even better service for customers.

In terms of my career development I would like to put myself forward for the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care as I am keen to apply for a more senior position within the next few years. I believe the in-depth knowledge and understanding I will gain from the Level 3 qualification will place me in a much stronger position to be able to work more effectively and efficiently at a senior level.
