Employee Voice

Moving forward together

Creating space for our people to be heard is key to building an inclusive, high-performing workplace. That's what we mean by employee voice: enabling colleagues at all levels to share ideas, concerns and feedback that shape how we work.

Diversity, Equity and inclusion imageTo support this we've established Employee Support Groups—networks of colleagues from across the business who bring diverse perspectives into everyday decision-making. They work closely with senior leaders to raise questions, highlight opportunities, and ensure inclusion is embedded in everything we do.

This isn't about speaking for others—it's about creating more ways for everyone to contribute to meaningful, long-term change. Whether it's shaping policy, challenging bias, or fostering a culture where people feel safe to speak up, harnessing employee voice helps us move forward together.

By investing in open dialogue and two-way communication, we're reinforcing our commitment to transparency, belonging and continuous improvement.

Our Employee Support Groups

Our Employee support groups are made up of representatives across the business. While their roles and remits vary, they share a collective aim: empowering individuals at all levels. Together, the Local Feedback Group (LFG), Community Support Groups (CSGs) and the Future Group contribute to decision-making, strengthen engagement, and help shape how we work and grow.

LFG reps are an elected body of employees that represents our colleague voice – across all regions and business areas – in our organisation.

The Future Group

The Future Group are an employee resource group, equality advocates and change agents, who work by engaging colleagues across all business areas in making racial equity, a dimension of DE&I, more visible in all.

Community Support Group (CSG)

Community Support Groups (CSGs) are colleague-led and designed to be safe spaces for anyone to join, share & discuss things they experience, notice or want to change that are specific to that group's experience.

Fosters discussion, empowerment, and goal pursuit, challenging discrimination and advocating for gender equity in policies.

Offers a safe space for learning about men-related issues and provides trusted information and support.

Fosters free expression of colleagues' religion and beliefs, providing a safe space for sharing and learning.

The DNA CSG offers a safe space for discussing disability, neurodiversity and accessibility experiences, aiming to enhance understanding and skills in creating an equitable workplace.

The Parents and Carers Community Support Group offers a welcoming and supportive environment for colleagues to connect, share their experiences, and navigate the unique challenges of being a carer.

Our employee support groups are central to building connection, inclusion and progress at City & Guilds. We're proud their impact was recognised at the 2024 Ampersand Awards.
  • The Future Group won the prestigious Team of the Year Award for engaging 300+ managers in inclusive leadership and embedding our Race Readiness approach.
  • Our Community Support Groups were Highly Commended for supporting colleagues across identities—shaping onboarding, offering peer support and raising awareness.
These awards reflect the care, leadership and commitment shown daily. Through their work, these teams are strengthening our culture and helping build a more inclusive, high-performing organisation.
