These qualifications will allow learners to acquire the knowledge of a number of essential areas of working in adult social care. The Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care is part of the Health and Social Care Apprenticeship Framework.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover things like:

communication
equality, diversity and inclusion
personal development
role of the social care worker
handling information
health and safety
safeguarding
duty of care
person centred approaches.

You will learn at college, with a training provider or on the job in the work environment

The qualifications will be assessed by means of externally set, internally marked assignments.

Level 2
You are preparing for or just starting out in a career in Adult Social Care and looking to gain or develop relevant knowledge.

Level 3
You are looking to build on your existing knowledge of Adult Social Care and the roles and responsibilities of those working within it.

These qualifications provide pathways into the sector of Adult Social Care for a number of individuals, from school leavers to people returning to work after a career break and those seeking work.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Level 2

Level 2 will suit you if you are considering, or starting out in, a career in Adult Social Care, and you need to develop your basic knowledge.

This qualification comprises nine mandatory units, including:

Understanding the role of the social care worker
Understanding health and safety in social care settings
Understanding person-centred approaches in adult social care settings.

Level 3 is ideal if you are working in Adult Social Care, or have basic knowledge of the area, and are looking to build on your learning.

Level 3 comprises nine mandatory units, including:

Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
Understanding how to handle information in social care settings
Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings.
