These qualifications provide a progression route into managing an agricultural enterprise and develop all the skills and knowledge you need to be effective in that role. It is suitable for those working with livestock and with crops. It can also be used as CPD assessments for the industry. This qualification is part of the apprenticeship framework.
These qualifications are aimed at either managers or supervisors of an agricultural enterprise. It covers both livestock and crops.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You will cover essential business management knowledge skills and can specialise in livestock or crop production.

You will learn on the job in the work environment and complete a portfolio of evidence.

Level 4
You are working with livestock or in crop production, probably in a supervisory role. You have probably completed an appropriate Level 3 qualification. You are looking to take the next step into management - or perhaps start your own business.

These qualifications can help you to progress in a management role within livestock or crop production.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres currently offering the NPTC Level 4 NVQ in Agricultural Management (0133) can gain fast-track approval.

Learners must be 18 or over and ideally should hold a Level 3 qualification in the relevant area.

Level 4

This level is ideal if you are working with livestock or in crop production, probably in a supervisory role. You probably have completed an appropriate Level 3 qualification. You are looking to take the next step into management - or perhaps start your own business.

There are six qualifications available:

  • Level 4 Award in Work-based Agricultural Management (Livestock)
  • Level 4 Award in Work-based Agricultural Management (Crop Production)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Work-based Agricultural Management (Livestock)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Work-based Agricultural Management (Crop Production)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Work-based Agricultural Business Management
  • Level 4 Diploma in Work-based Agricultural Business Management (unit route).
