Medals for Excellence

Nominations are now closed!

On Monday 2 October, we launched a new online platform to help simplify and streamline the nominations process for Medals for Excellence, making it much quicker and easier than ever to nominate.

Nominations can be made on behalf of any student who has completed a City & Guilds course, any lecturer who has taught or any centre that has offered City & Guilds courses between September 2016 - July 2017.

For the first time ever, people will be able to self-nominate, as long as the nomination is accompanied by a testimonial from two separate referees, encouraging a broader spread of applications and opportunities for people to share more personal stories.

What you need to know:

  • Medal winners will be announced in February 2018.
  • Each Medal for Excellence winner will receive both a physical Medal for Excellence as well as an online Badge for Excellence, enabling them to showcase their achievements far more widely i.e to potential future employers.

How does it work?

To help you get used to the new process, we’ve created a pre-recorded webinar which includes a step-by-step guide on how to use the new system.

Reasons to nominate

Not enough recognition is given out for hard work these days, but we're offering you the chance to change this and to make a difference in someone's life.

Just being nominated proves to learners and professionals that all their work isn't for nothing, and that you believe in them. Knowing that there is support and encouragement behind you is one of the most important ingredients for success.

Nominating your outstanding learners and trainers is also a great chance to create a good news story for your centre.

Who is eligible?

All City & Guilds learners who have completed their City & Guilds qualification between 1 August and 31 July the preceding year, and lecturer/trainers who have been actively delivering City & Guilds qualifications.

Each centre can nominate one learner from each occupational sector and up to three lecturer/trainers regardless of sector.
