Training today’s apprentices for tomorrow’s building services engineering industry

City & Guilds is helping build the next generation of skilled professionals in gas, plumbing, heating, refrigeration and electrical. With extensive experience delivering end-point assessments (EPAs) in building services engineering (BSE), we support providers and employers in developing a skilled, future-ready workforce.

With over 3,500 BSE EPAs delivered across three standards, we bring proven sector expertise, robust quality assurance and a reliable assessment experience.

As apprenticeship reforms reshape assessments, City & Guilds will stay at the forefront, providing clear guidance, practical support and assessment solutions aligned to emerging standards. In the meantime, we continue to deliver high‑quality EPAs and the level of service apprentices, providers and employers expect.

Supporting electrical apprenticeships

City & Guilds supports electrical apprenticeships through industry-aligned technical qualifications and expert provider support, with EPA delivered by National Electrotechnical Training (NET), the sole EPAO for electrotechnical apprenticeships in England.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (5357‑23) underpins on‑programme delivery for the Installation and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship (ST0152), while the Level 3 Award in Electrotechnical in Dwellings (5393‑03) supports specialist training for the Domestic Electrician apprenticeship (ST1017).

Apprentices complete the AM2 end-point assessment, owned and delivered by NET at licensed assessment centres, to demonstrate full occupational competence.

Together, City & Guilds qualifications and the NET EPA provide a clear, standards‑aligned route from training through to independent assessment and apprentice competence.
