Please note: The AM2 assessment must be the final component completed by candidates undertaking the NVQ 2357 qualification.

These qualifications will close for registrations on 31 October 2026 as they have been replaced by 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification.

Amendment 4 (2026) to BS 7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations
From April 2026 until 15 October 2026, learners will be able to sit either the current online test (2382-22) or the new online test (2382-26). From 16 October 2026, the new online test (2382-26) will be the only online test available.

These qualifications are designed to provide new entrants and those seeking progression in their career, with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the installation and maintenance of Electrotechnical systems.
This qualification is available at Level 3 only, which is the level that the Electrotechnical industry recognises learners as having achieved the competence required to carry out the role.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
This level is ideal if you've worked in the industry for some time. You have plenty of experience, and you want to develop your skills further, perhaps to move into a management role. You choose one of two specialist pathways:
  • Electrical maintenance
  • Electrical installation (buildings and structures)
To complete these qualifications, you will cover topics including:
  • Health and Safety legislation
  • Principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems
  • Fault finding.

What Careers Can This Lead To?
Completing one of these qualifications demonstrates your competency as an electrician.

In addition, we also have a number of Higher Level management qualifications offered through ILM.
What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors and suitable facilities.  The requirements for these can be found in the qualification handbook.
