General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

There are seven Level 3 Performance Units to be assessed before you can gain the Experienced Worker qualification:

  • Apply Practices and Procedures for Maintenance
  • Apply Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations
  • Organise and Oversee the Electrical Work Environment
  • Apply Design and Installation Practices and Procedures
  • Terminate and Connect Conductors
  • Inspect, Test and Commission Electrical Systems
  • Apply Fault Diagnosis and Rectification

To pass these units, you must provide evidence from a site of your previous work to demonstrate you can fully meet the performance requirements of each unit.

You will be assessed via a range of methods and an assessor will need to observe you at work on at least one occasion during the evidence gathering process.

Please note the Wiring and initial verification units aren’t examined within the 2346 – these are proxy units i.e. candidates need to take these separately and centres claim them as proxies to achieve the 2346.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

With a City & Guilds Experienced Worker qualification, you have shown that you meet the Occupational Standards within the Electrotechnical industry. That can be a great launchpad for a range of careers, from inspection to installation.

It can also help you move into a role as an electrical engineer, as well as broadening your prospects with your current employer.

If you want to continue your learning, you could also consider the following qualifications from City & Guilds:

  • Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

To find all the resource requirements for assessment and delivery, download the qualification handbook from the centre documents section.

The skills needed for the Experienced Worker Qualification are gained on the job, with learners acquiring skills from their senior colleagues.

Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence, submitted by the learner. This should demonstrate whether or not they have met the performance requirements - something an assessor at your centre can decide.
