How to apply

Note: it is a WACS requirement that the centre has been in existence for at least five years.

To apply for the WACS 'Recognition of Quality Culinary Education' standards, City & Guilds approved centre should visit the WACS website, read the instructions and then complete the online application form.

Approved City & Guilds centres are considered to have met eight of the twelve quality standards (called 'Steps') and are only required to submit new evidence against four standards (Steps 4, 7, 9, 10).

For the other eight standards, a brief note or administrative information may be required, as outlined below.

Step 3: Form E - 3 / Programme Details

Action: include the following note in the WACS application form: 'Approved City & Guilds centre - standard met as per the collaboration agreement'

Step 4: Formal Lesson Delivery Models

Step 5: Facilities

Action: attach one photograph of facilities to WACS application form (for WACS administration)

Step 6: Commitment and Support
STANDARD MET
Action: include the following note in the WACS application form: 'Approved City & Guilds centre - standard met as per the collaboration agreement'

Step 7: Mission Statement

Action: submit required evidence to WACS.

Step 8: Sanitation, Food Safety and Hygiene

Step 9: Learning Resources

Step 11: Grievances Policies

Step 12: Business License
STANDARD MET
Action: attach centre and qualification certificates to the WACS application.

City & Guilds centres that apply for the 'Recognition of Quality Culinary Education' quality standards programme by 1 April 2012 will receive a 50% discount* on the first year membership fee.

Centres applying for a three-year membership will receive a further 10% discount on the membership fee for the second and third year.

*The discount excludes the initial administration charge.
