The Level 2 Diploma in Professional Hairdressing and Level 2 Diploma in Professional Barbering are newly created qualifications, based on employer needs and have been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the Hair Professional arena.

Both Diplomas will lead to the achievement of the Hairdressing Professional Standard, alongside the relevant functional skills and the End Point Assessment (EPA) module. Our apprenticeship offer provides the materials and solutions you need to sustain flexible delivery models that are cost effective, time efficient and meet the learning styles of your apprentices. It helps motivate them to be successful, productive in their role and are fully prepared for end-point assessment.

Our high-quality, rigorous end-point assessment, can be delivered at a convenient time for your apprentice.

The Diplomas for the Hairdressing Professional and Barbering Professional are qualifications designed for learners who are at least 16 years old and who wish to develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin to work either as a Hairdresser or as a Barber.

They may have previously completed a Level 1 qualification in the relevant subject area. Learners wishing to complete these qualifications will be doing so as an employed, apprentice in a real work environment.

Learners achieving the Diploma in Professional Hairdressing can gain employment in a salon as a Hairdresser.  They will cover the following units:
201 Consultation
202 Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
203 Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
204 Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to achieve a variety of looks
205 Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
206 Perming hair
207 Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
208 Hair extension services

Learners achieving the Diploma in Professional Barbering can gain employment in a salon as a Barber. They will cover the following units:
201 Consultation
202 Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
209 Cutting hair using barbering techniques to create a variety of looks
210 Style and finish men’s hair
211 Cut facial hair into shape
212 Provide shaving services

Both Diplomas cover all of the core knowledge and skills needed to become a competent Hairdresser or Barber. They will provide the learner with the opportunity to develop different skills by choosing from a selection of optional units.

End-point assessment

Use product code 7002-52 to order our EPA for Hairdressing or 7002-53 for Barbering.

Both qualifications also include an element of End Point Assessment (EPA).

The assessment events include:
• Practical observation where the learner will demonstrate that they can complete a range of services on at least two models to industry standards and within commercial timings.
• Oral questioning where the learner’s consultation skills, communication skills, safe working practices, professionalism, values and behaviours will also be assessed by oral questioning.

When the apprentice passes their assessment successfully, we’ll apply to the ESFA for the apprenticeship certification. The certificate will then be sent to the apprentice’s employer. We also provide our own City of Guilds-branded statement of achievement.
