Product code 9040

The Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship standard at level 2 is part of a suite of apprenticeship standards designed to create a career progression pathway in adult care. These are:

Lead Adult Care Worker at level 3
Lead Practitioner in Adult Care at level 4
Leader in Adult Care at level 5

The adult care worker role is a key element of adult care and support provision.  Adult care workers work directly with users of services in a range of care and support settings including day care, residential care, dementia services, learning disabilities services and also in individuals’ own homes.

The Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship standard is at level 2 and only available to be delivered in England.  It has a typical duration of 12-18 months .

The SASW framework Health & Social Care Level 2 is still current and available for use in Wales.

Our apprenticeship offer provides materials and solutions you need to sustain flexible delivery models that are cost effective, time efficient and meet the learning styles of your apprentices. It helps motivate them to be successful, productive in their role and are fully prepared for end-point assessment.

Our high-quality, rigorous end-point assessment, can be delivered at a convenient time for your apprentice.

On-programme

Use product code 3095-21 to order our On-Programme.

On-programme for this apprenticeship is a period of learning, development and assessment structured using the mandatory qualification – the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Care (3095-21).  This qualification is endorsed by both Skills for Care and Skills for Health as meeting the requirements of their qualification specifications and design principles.

This new qualification will be available from January 2018.

The Level 2 Diploma in Care will be supported by Smartscreen resources which will cover the mandatory content and popular optional unit themes. Smartscreen will include the following support materials; schemes of work, worksheets for apprentices, session plans and powerpoint presentations to aid delivery.  Smartscreen will be available to purchase through the Walled Garden from January 2018.

End-point assessment

Use Product code 9040-12 to order our EPA.

The end-point assessment must demonstrate that the apprentice can perform in the occupation in a fully competent, holistic and productive way.  The assessment will be graded pass, merit or distinction.

The end point assessment  consists of:

A situational judgement test consisting of 60 multiple choice questions based on real life scenarios.
A professional discussion lasting no more than 45 minutes
The apprentice must pass the situational judgement test before they attempt the professional discussion.

A sample test paper will be available and the password for this will be found on the Walled Garden.

A support pack is available to outline requirements of end point assessment and to help centres and employers to prepare their apprentices.

If the apprentice passes their assessment successfully, we’ll apply to the ESFA for the apprenticeship certification. The certificate will then be sent to the apprentice’s employer.  We also provide our own City of Guilds-branded statement of achievement.
