These qualifications help you get your first job in the hospitality sector. You'll learn about many aspects of the industry and gain valuable practical and teamwork skills.  The qualification covers various routes, including cookery, food service and the industry as a whole. 
These qualifications are for anyone who is interested in a career in the hospitality sector. It is particularly aimed at 14-19 year olds working towards full Level 2 qualifications and skilled employment, including Apprenticeships.  The pre-apprenticeship route is ideal preparation for those learners wishing to undertake the level 2 apprenticeship, whilst the other routes available are especially good for those learners needing extra support.  This suite of qualifications are also beneficial for those learners who may struggle on the Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery (7100).

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover things like:

  • Customer service
  • Serving food and drink
  • Healthy eating
  • Using kitchen equipment
  • Basic food preparation.

This qualification gives you greater flexibility when studying and allows you to transfer credits across qualifications. You will be awarded credits for each course of study you complete.

Entry Level 3
You are looking for a career in the hospitality industry or your looking to learn the basis of looking after yourself in your own environment.  Ideal for learners with special needs.

Level 1
You're just starting out and want a good basic understanding of the hospitality industry - you may still be at school and preparing for GCSEs or an apprenticeship programme. You want a qualification that can help you with ongoing study or to find your first job in the hospitality sector.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

These qualifications can help you find a job in a wide range of roles including:

  • Bar person
  • Catering
  • Chef
  • Cleaner
  • Housekeeper
  • Kitchen assistant/Porter
  • Receptionist.

Once you have completed the course you might want to move on to full Level 2 qualifications and skilled employment including apprenticeships.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Entry 3

Entry Level 3 will suit you if you are looking to enter the Hospitality industry. You have little or no previous knowledge or experience of the industry, but are keen to get your career started.   This is also ideal for those learners with special needs.
