Functional Skills ICT 3748-03 closed to new learners and the final registration date for new starts was 31 July 2023.
The final certification date will be 31 July 2024. This date has been set by the Department of Education and Ofqual and City & Guilds cannot certificate learners for this qualification after this date.

These qualifications have been replaced with our new Digital Functional Skills Qualifications (4748-05 & 4748-06) and you can find more information about these qualifications on this webpage:  Functional Skills/Digital Functional Skills Qualifications.

Functional Skills qualifications are available across five levels (Entry 1 to Level 2), and are completed in a wide range of college, community and work-based settings. 
Samples of our Onscreen-delivered assessments are stored below under the drop down menu for the appropriate level. These will continue to be available until 31 August 2023, after this date paper-based assessments will be available until 31 May 2024.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

These qualifications can be delivered in a classroom environment or in the workplace.

The Entry-Level qualifications are internally assessed and quality assured . This is also the case for Level 1 and 2 FS English Speaking, Listening and Communication.

Flexible assessment - onscreen or on paper, it's your choice
All of our externally marked Functional Skills assessments at levels 1 and 2 are available to take on any day at any time. There are two options:

  • Onscreen
    Assessments can be booked with as little as 30 minutes' notice using e-volve, our onscreen assessment platform.
  • Named on Demand
    Paper based/delivered assessments available with just two weeks' notice using our Named on Demand facility.

City & Guilds has a wide range of digital learning resources to support English and maths learning in almost any context, including learners working towards Functional Skills qualifications.
