Guidance and advice regarding coronavirus

Important announcement regarding coronavirus

13 March 2020

We appreciate that our centres may have queries or concerns as to how the current coronavirus outbreak may impact the delivery of City & Guilds and ILM qualifications, in particular upcoming exams and assessments.

City & Guilds and ILM are working closely with Ofqual, DFE, JCQ and other Awarding Organisations to monitor on an ongoing basis the coronavirus outbreak in the UK, and how to manage any particular risks to the delivery, taking and administering of our exams and assessments, should there be a widespread outbreak of coronavirus.

Currently City & Guilds and ILM have not made any changes to our UK services, including approval visits, access to External Quality Assurers, timetabled and on demand external assessments. We would advise that students and centres continue to prepare for our exams and assessments as usual.

Read our existing guidance ‘Emergency Situations and Assessments’.

You can also refer to the Joint Contingency Plan from JCQ - contingency planning advice.

The current situation is fast moving and we will continue to review risks and to establish whether any additional contingency measures should be put in place for assessments and this year’s exam series in response to the outbreak of coronavirus. We will update this page and existing guidance to reflect any specific arrangements our centres should put in place if required.

For centres undertaking end-point assessment with City & Guilds and ILM please read our advice regarding event scheduling.
